Today, we are showing off a pin from the Indianapolis #1036 club. I asked Trena Roudebush (past National President & past Club President) about the project this pin represented.
“We started Beers & Bears after hearing that many local police officers carried stuffed animals in the trunks of their car, often buying them out of their own pockets. They often distribute the stuffed animals when they encounter a child experiencing trauma – a car accident, removal from an unsafe home, etc.
We held, essentially, a stuffed-animal drive and NFL watch party at a local Indianapolis Colts-themed bar. We worked with the bar to do drink specials and give a beer to attendees who donated a stuffed animal. Guests could also make a $10 (or more) donation instead of a stuffie. We used that money to purchase more stuffies.”
Sounds like an easy fundraiser clubs could copy.
There are A LOT of pins, so we are also going to have a weekly feature showing them off here. Let us know of any pins you would like to share, the story behind the pin, if you know the year, how you got it (any fun trade stories), or other memory you connect to that pin (for example, it’s a pin that represents your term as club president or going past active). Even if it’s just a neat pin you like, please share.
